About Operation Reach Out

Sending a piece of home to our deployed troops

For the past 16 years, GBU Financial Life, with help from our many community volunteers and member donors, have packed and shipped care packages to send to deployed US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over the life of the program GBU has sent more than 37,000 care packages to deployed troops.

GBU continues to support our deployed military service members and local veterans by funding Operation Troop Appreciation's wish-list program for deployed units as well as the Welcome Home program to help returning veterans set up their homes and get needed support. The Welcome Home project has helped more than 7,800 service members and veterans since 2022.

We will continue working with Operation Troop Appreciation (OTA) in Pittsburgh.  OTA is a 100% volunteer non-profit that has provided over 190,000 members of the US Military with requested "wish-list" items since 2004.

Quarterly Pack N' Prep Volunteer Days

GBU is now organizing Quarterly Pack N' Prep events so that our supporters can come spend the morning with us and help us get some much needed packages together. The Quarterly Pack N Preps will include the assembly of three kinds of kits: Hygiene kits, leisure kits, and snack kits. Learn about how can "sponsor a kit" via the Donate tab. Learn more about how you can volunteer via the Volunteer tab.
