When you support the organizations you care about through volunteering, GBU supports them, too! GBU will donate $15 per hour for every hour a member volunteers for an approved 501(c)(3) organization, up to $150. Terms and conditions for this program are based on funds availability and are subject to change at any time.
Limited Time Opportunity: Earth Day Challenge
In celebration of Earth Day, we would like to announce GBU Life's "Earth Day Challenge". For the month of April until May 15, 2024, we want to support our members in their conservation and sustainability efforts. You can choose from the two options:
Volunteer through the One Hour at a Time Program with a sustainable organization or project.
We will donate $30 per hour for every hour a member volunteers with a sustainable, 501(c)(3) organization, up to $300.
- The organization must focus their efforts on sustainability or the project you are volunteering for must be sustainable in nature.
- The volunteer hours and application must be submitted between the dates listed above.
- This does not count as one of the two opportunities you get two participate in the One Hour at a Time program each year.
Make a donation to a sustainability-related project or organization and we will match your donation, up to $100.
If you donate to a 501(c)(3) organization or to an organization completing a eco-friendly project, we will match your donation, up to $100.
- The organization must focus their efforts on sustainability or the fund you are donating to must be for an eco-friendly project.
- You must submit proof of your donation between the dates listed above.
How it works
Guidelines
You may volunteer with TWO separate, qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations per calendar year. GBU will donate $15 for each volunteered hour to the GBU member's two qualified charitable organizations. Annual qualified volunteer hours: minimum of 5 hours, maximum 10 hours per organization. Hours may not be carried over from year-to-year. Collectively, GBU will donate a maximum of $1,000 annually to a qualified local charity, and $5,000 annually to a qualified national charity.
Eligibility
A qualified volunteer must be a current GBU member. Volunteer service should be consistent with good citizenship and support important society goals such as education, the environment, and health and human services.
Eligible Organizations
Eligible organizations must be charitable in nature, recognized as tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service under Section Code 501(c)(3) and have a current Employer Identification Number (EIN). Eligible organizations must be listed on CharityNavigator.org as a currently registered 501(c)(3) organization.
Ineligible Organizations
Political, private foundations or organizations which may involve GBU in controversial issues. Limited constituency and other organizations with a non-charitable focus, such as sororities, fraternities, alumni associations, business leagues, foreign language, and social clubs, hobby and other civic clubs, participatory sports leagues over age 18, churches, synagogues, etc. insofar as the activities are religious in nature.
GBU reserves the right to deny funding to any organization which is not consistent with GBU's purpose and mission.
Be sure to submit your volunteer hours no later than January 15 of the year after you performed the volunteer work.
